We created Ikebana works for the New Year! I have 2 more classes of ikebana by the end of the year, and we will prepare for the New Year as today’s lesson. We will be ready for the year of 2024 with these floral compositions!

We created the ikebana works for Christmas with Poinsettia and branches of Cypress.

We challenged the Ikebana with the vase in which we don’t use the kenzan (pinholder) today. It is more difficult to fix the branches in this type of vase, however, participants did well stabilize the floral materials.

It’s been a month since the last Ikebana lesson as I went back to Japan for the first 2 weeks in November. We practiced how to make a form with the materials which are flexible today. Italian Ruscus is one of the flexible plantes to bend them easily.
Ikebana lesson on Oct 21
We practiced one of the ikebana forms with various leaves such as Pandanus, Dracena et Asplenium. The participants realized that it was more complicated to underline the beauty of leaves than that of branches as the leaves are more flat in general. Then, they tried well to compose them in the three dimensions.

We practiced the ikebana with gladiolus flowers last Saturday. The participants composed well with other floral materials!

We practiced one of the forms of ikebana with Gladiolus. What we focused on today was how to recompose the leaves of Gladiolus.
Private tea ceremony
I hold a private tea ceremony at musée japonais at Castelnau-le-Lez last Sunday. Thank you for coming and learning the tea ceremony with me!
