It was unusually snowing yesterday in Montpellier. Then, I used the branches of the Blackthorn for representing the snow in spring. I hope the spring will come back next week with the warmth.

I created the ikebana work with the branches of almond this week. They bloom everywhere in Montpellier right now, and it reminds me of the cherry blossom season in Japan. It seems that the weather is not good this week, however, I hope this creation will bring the positive atmosphere with the vernal flowers.
I organized the tea ceremony at Château d’ô yesterday for enjoying the flowers of almond. we welcomed the return of spring with enjoying the matcha and sweets under the almond trees in full bloom.
We practiced the ikebana work with the branches of almond. The flower petal resembles the one of cherry blossom. The spring has come in Montpellier, and we felt a promise of spring in the milder air.

The flowers of almond get bloom in the south of France at this season. It reminds me of the full bloom of cherry blossom in April in Japan. I’m really glad to have the almond trees everywhere in Montpellier since I can feel as if I’m back home in Kyoto at this beautiful season.
I did a demonstration of ikebana and tea ceremony at Atelier du Singe Vert in Montpellier last Sunday.
