I created the ikebana flower work with iris this week as it is known for the flower of Children’s Day on May 5 in Japan. We celebrate this day for the growth, happiness and prosperity of children. The day was originally called Tango no Sekku, and they used to celebrate that day only for boys.
The season of fresh greenery is coming! I chose the branches of hawthorn which burgeon rapidly. The white small flowers are similar to the ones of reeves’ meadowsweet. I hope this ikebana work brings the fresh air to the restaurant in spite of bad weather this week.
